Ancoats Lock Keepers Cottage For Sale….

Is this the cutest house for sale in Manchester?

THE most viewed house in Manchester right now is this – the former lock keepers cottage on the Ashton Canal at New Islington.

The suggested plans are for a traditional three bed layout, a couple of bathrooms and a snug downstairs as well as central kitchen open to the living room with an office in one of the cellar rooms.Ancoats Cottage

Most recently it’s been the offices of Isis Waterside Regeneration, the developer responsible for Islington Wharf, so there are no domestic basics like a bathroom or kitchen and it still needs the city council’s approval to be turned back to residential. And it has a price tag of £274,950. But that does not seem to be deterring people keen to take on the project with a couple of second viewings already. The suggested plans are for a traditional three bed layout, a couple of bathrooms and a snug downstairs as well as central kitchen open to the living room with an office in one of the cellar rooms. Sadly the external access to the cellars is a little too precarious down a cobbled slope to get even a smart car inside, so no off-street parking and while you have a patch of green in front there is no private garden area. If you like a quiet life this is not the place for you.

It offers 1,400sq ft of living space. To put that into some perspective Islington Wharf Mews which is taking shape next door has a three bed town house with garage and terrace overlooking the canal that’s 1,205 sq ft for sale at £299,950.
